Welcome

Jane is a UKCP registered humanistic psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer who has been working with people for over 30 years in Taunton, Somerset. She is the Founder Director of The Terrace, humanistic psychotherapy and complementary health centre, which she set up in 1994 to work alongside other professional colleagues.

Jane works with individuals, couples and organisations. She supervises psychotherapists, counsellors and complementary health practitioners. Additionally she held a training role on Spectrum post-graduate professional development programme in London for 10 years training psychotherapists.

Jane works with a humanistic perspective, supporting people to come to understand their individual personal issues or dilemmas and explore what choices they have. The work, through the sessions, is a process of learning and growing and finding what is possible to form which is different, and more satisfying. Each person and couple is unique and the sessions open the conversation and exploration of how each person is functioning in their life, and what affect this has on their life success and satisfaction. There may be areas which work well and support the individual or couple, and there may be areas to understand and address together through the sessions.

The work is tailored to each individual, couple and group, both frequency of sessions and session length. We are all different - both in how we function and also in our life styles. Sessions accommodate this and through conversation, a pattern is agreed, which is reviewed through the work. Jane’s focus in her work is to support the growth in individuals, couples and groups. This mostly means meeting over time to understand what needs attention, what change is possible and establish new patterns of behaviour.

Along with humanistic models of psychotherapy (Gestalt, Virginia Satir’s relationship work and Transactional Analysis), a major influence is the work of the late Stanley Keleman’s Formative Psychology. Jane is working in person with all her clients.

Jane is an AXA Health and WPA recognised Psychotherapist.
